PACKAGING GOalS

Our Philosophy

We believe in doing all we can to improve the conservation of our planet. This is one reason why we are work with high mountain coffee farmers, who struggle to make a living from coffee. We endeavour to do what we can to bring coffee to our customers with as optimal an environmental impact as possible.

We know that this is a step-wise and conscientious journey and have started where we can.

  • Limit the carbon footprint – source as close to use as possible, and deliver as optimally as possible

  • Minimise, and where possible re-use or recycle waste during processing from bean to cup

  • Avoid landfill where possible

  • Remind ourselves, our farmers and customers of the importance of our planet

  • Create and sell re-usable, environmentally-friendly alternatives

Our Packaging

Coffee Pouches

Our coffee and pods are sold in brown kraft paper with PE-EVOH and ALOXPET which are high barrier eco-friendly films that can go into plastic waste. We would love to have an alternative solution, but given the environmental work to get from bean to from roast or capsules, we don’t want these wasted.

If you can, please buy a wax-cloth coffee bag developed through a collaboration with byThye. We sell ‘re-fills’ for less as we don’t have to pass on the cost of the bag or labels.

Capsule Pods

Our coffee capsules pods are sourced in Europe. Made from a 100% bio-degradable and 100% bio-compostable compound made by transforming cereals plants with other components in a manufacturing process that uses wind turbines. The capsules can be put into domestic or industrial compost and carry the European Standard EN13432 of compostability.

Capsule Lids

Our coffee capsule covers are also sourced in Europe and like the capsule bases are 100% bio-compostable and 100% bio-degradable and also carry EN13432 compostability mark.

Aluminium Cosmetic Tins

Sourced in France, our cosmetic tins are made from aluminium. Recycling facilities are widely available so the carbon footprint for disposal is lowered. We have also chosen to emboss the lids to avoid labels.
