Our Team

 

The CARICO Senior Management Team and Key Advisors (8 people, whose biographies are available in Appendix 1) have a collective experience of 265 years in five industries including publicly-listed companies, and having lived and worked in over 25 countries. The management team is in frequent contact with the Cooperatives and visits the area regularly to meet farmers and monitor progress of other initiatives. CARICO Suisse has three in its management team.

MWAMBU WANENDEYA

Mwambu founded CARICO in 2016 to try to sustainably improve the future of coffee farmers. 50 years earlier, his father helped set up one of the first coffee cooperatives on Mount Elgon.

He studied Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College and following a year at the BBC World Service, he worked as an independent journalist. He then worked in communications and public relations in the telecommunications and banking industries in Africa.

EMMANUEL mASABA

Emmanuel is Head of Retail Sales and Business Development at CARICO. A marketing and sales professional with over 10 years’ in marketing and 5 in banking, telecommunications and agribusiness, Emmanuel is a passionate advocate for economic and social advancement.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from Kyambogo University.

PERSON 3

CARICO Suisse

CARICO Suisse first imports of specialty Bugisu coffee coffee and fine Uganda robusta were in 2019. Since then, it continues to support the strategic planning, partnerships and project implementation in Uganda overseeing measurement and reporting of projects.

NINA MILNE

After a medical degree in the UK, Nina obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of Edinburgh. She practised as a general surgeon in the UK for 10 years. Following an MBA, she moved to industry to run the European M&A department for a multinational medical devices company where her team oversaw the commercialisation of innovative devices.

She then set up social enterprises that have trained over 400 teachers in literacy and provided quality educational materials in emerging countries. In 2018, Nina joined her brother to support CARICO and its cause.

CHRISTOPHER MILNE

During a 35 year international career in banking, Christopher worked in 16 developed and emerging countries in various roles. During this time, he has also been an advocate for diversity, mentoring professional women, and for the environmental opportunity and role of corporations.

Following retirement, he has supported CARICO and other initiatives.  He read Medieval & Modern Languages at Cambridge as was awarded an MBE in the 2000 New Year’s Honours.

CARICO GLOBAL

CARICO Café is pleased to announce a partnership with Quintessence of Culture, an innovative, creative, philanthropic for-profit agency based in Germany who create and produce your multicultural visions. Quintessence of Culture have set up CARICO Global to provide CARICO’s business to business in Europe.

The launch of CARICO Global comes at a time when consumers the world over want to know what they are doing. This conscious movement is about self, health, community, future environmental impact. Traceability and visibility matter.
